KENOTAPH
site-specific performance / length: 90 minutes
KENOTAPH is an event consisting of two elements: site-specific projections and music/vocal performance. It questions the value of what we leave behind us when we leave this world. It asks the visitors if these deeds and objects serve as mere tombstones for us or become messages for the generations which come after us.
The installation consists of several semi-abstract projections and light installations. One of them, which lights during the whole performance, represents a symbolic, transitory kenotaph, made of energy - of light, instead of stone.
The unifying element is light and its absence. The church is turned into darkness and specific parts of it are being lit according to the flow of the performance.
The program includes music pieces by both contemporary and classic composers (Johann Sebastian Bach, Johannes Brahms, Charles Tournemire, John Tavener, Louis Andriessen) and live sound art (Jakub Pišek).
